Kerman Province

Kerman Province is the largest province in the country and hosts one of Iran’s natural wonders on the UNESCO World Heritage list. Excavations and explorations conducted in the Jiroft region and some other parts of the province attest to human presence in Kerman dating back thousands of years. Although Kerman is considered a desert province, it encompasses tall mountains and is among Iran’s highland provinces. Mount Hezar in this province, with an elevation of 4,400 meters, is considered one of Iran’s highest peaks. However, Kerman is also home to the Lut Desert, which is one of the lowest points in Iran. The city of Kerman serves as the capital of this province.
