Khuzestan Province

The history of human life in Khuzestan Province dates back to 2700 years before Christ and the Elamite civilization. Significant remains from the Elamite and Achaemenid periods have been left in this region, indicating the antiquity of this area. The center of this province is the city of Ahvaz. The only navigable river and the largest river in Iran, the Karun River, flows through this province. Several sites from this province have been registered with UNESCO.
