Natanz
The county of Natanz is considered one of the high points of Isfahan Province, surrounded by the Karkas mountain range to its south and west. Although it is located near the desert to the east, the presence of surrounding mountains and the existence of lush and fertile mountainous areas give it a very pleasant and agreeable climate, quite different from the desert. With an area of ۳۳۹۲ square kilometers and a population of nearly 45,000 people, Natanz is situated in the north of Isfahan County and the south of Kashan County. The city of Natanz serves as the county center, and agriculture is prevalent in the region, with water being provided from springs and qanats. Due to its favorable geographical location, Natanz is considered one of Iran’s ancient cities, especially during the Sassanid era when major caravan routes passed through its soil. The county is rich in mineral resources, including granite, marble, and travertine mines. Natanz granite is globally renowned. Among the historical sites of this city are the Baz dome, Natanz Jameh Mosque, Sheikh Abdolsamad Khaneghah, Mir Mosque Mihrab, Afushteh village, and others.
