The ancient site of Shush

The ancient site of Shush in Khuzestan province is one of the oldest and most magnificent known settlements in the world. Inhabited from 6000 to 800 years ago, it was eventually destroyed by the Mongols in 1230 AD. This grand structure was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in July 2015.
Among other tourist attractions in Khuzestan province are the Hoor al-Azim Wetland, the Shrine of Prophet Daniel, the Acropolis Castle, Shavur Palace (Ardeshir Palace), Apadana Palace, Shush Castle, the historic city of Masjed Soleiman, Shadegan Wetland, Zarin Historical Hill, and Mino Island.
Seafood in Khuzestan is highly renowned, with fresh fish and shrimp, as well as fish and shrimp stew, among the most popular dishes. Additionally, fresh dates, dried dates, fresh fish and shrimp from the south, date syrup and paste, various types of sweets, traditional cookies, and the seven-spice blend are considered specialties of this province.
Products of straw weaving such as containers and placemats, local clothing, enamelware, pottery, reed mats, gabbeh rugs, and traditional clothing are also considered souvenirs of the province.
