The Arg of Karim Khan Zand

The Arg of Karim Khan Zand is one of the most famous historical landmarks in the city of Shiraz, with its origins dating back to the Zand dynasty. This historical building is located right in the center of the city. The structure of the Arg of Karim Khan Zand is designed in a rectangular shape and consists of two distinct sections: one part is designed as a military building, and the other part is for residence. Approximately, this Arg covers an area of ​​۱۳,۰۰۰ square meters with a built-up area of ​​۴,۰۰۰ square meters. Interestingly, despite various damages and operations, this building still stands tall. This is due to the excellent building materials used by architects and artists of that time who made significant efforts in a short period to construct the Arg of Karim Khan. During the Pahlavi dynasty, the Arg was used as a prison, which caused some damage to it.
